Helping build strong nonprofits
Not able to travel for training? The Hampton Roads Community Foundation can help nonprofit staff members keep up to date and gain expertise without investing a lot of time and money.
- Free, in-house, 90-minute sessions taught by our staff to help you apply for grants. We offer sessions on topics ranging from how to apply for grants to collecting data on your projects. They run from 3 - 4:30 p.m. in our office at 101 W. Main Street, Suite 4500 (fourth floor), in the World Trade Center in Norfolk. You can park in the Town Point Garage across the street and we will validate your parking. The Tide light rail stop is three blocks away.
Nonprofit representatives in Hampton Roads can learn the latest trends and best practices through professional development programs offered through the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence. The Academy is made possible through a partnership with Tidewater Community College and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation.
- One- and two-day courses taught through the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence on all kinds of helpful topics. We started the academy in 2005 in partnership with Tidewater Community College and continue to underwrite it to keep costs low -- $70 to $95 per class. The academy regularly brings experts to teach about board development, communications, fundraising, human resources, legal issues and other key nonprofit topics. Take enough courses and you can join the more than 130 professionals who have earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Request to join the Academy's enewsletter to be the first to know about upcoming classes.
