Grants
Nearly $700,000 awarded for educational and arts support
Since 1950, charitable people have created discretionary and field-of-interest endowments at the community foundation. Their generosity gives us the flexibility to fund a variety of causes in southeastern Virginia.
The Hampton Roads Community Foundation recently awarded grants to six local nonprofit organizations, primarily focused on cultural vitality and educational success.
Why It matters: We believe that preparing our children and youth for the future is paramount to our mission. We also believe the educational, social and emotional well-being of youth can be positively influenced through arts and culture programs.
Nonprofit organizations that received grants in June include:
Families of Autistic Children of Tidewater, $32,100 over three years to expand its reach with the after-school program, Arts Adventure.
KD Entertainment, $30,000 over three years to support its music program.
Community Outreach Coalition, $45,000 over three years to support its Arts & Music Afterschool Enrichment after-school program.
Joy Ministries, $30,000 to support its summer literacy camp.
Wesley Community Service Center, Inc., $30,000 over three years to expand its after-school tutoring program.
