Sarah Ellis is chief of staff. She joined the community foundation in 2017 as grant manager before being promoted in 2019. Previously, she was director of grants for the United Way of South Hampton Roads and grants manager for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Virginia and a certificate of nonprofit management from the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence. She is currently pursuing a master of public administration from Old Dominion University.
